Physiotherapy for pregnant women

Pregnancy is a special time in a woman’s life when her body undergoes both physical and emotional changes. Physical activity is the best way for expectant mothers to improve their health and maintain their well-being. Exercise during pregnancy affects not only the birth, but also the development and physical condition of the baby.
Physiotherapy treatments and massages are recommended from the fourth month of pregnancy onwards, but you should consult your supervising doctor throughout your pregnancy and keep your physiotherapist/massage therapist informed of your health status.

Pregnancy physiotherapy in the pool

Physiotherapy in water is a unique opportunity for pregnant women to exercise without straining their bodies, as the human body weighs much less in water. The pool improves your well-being and mood, and boosts your metabolism. The chest is selected individually during the exercise, with a strong emphasis on relaxation and breathing exercises.

Sessions are held in groups of up to 5 pregnant women and last 45 minutes.

A consultation with a physiotherapist is recommended before exercise.

Physiotherapy for pregnant women in the gym

The centre of balance of a woman’s body shifts when she is expecting a baby – her posture changes, the back is under a lot of strain, there are aches and pains, muscle tension, and it’s hard to just feel comfortable. Exercise for pregnant women is not only physically strengthening, but also harmonises your overall well-being. Exercises to correct the back and find the body’s centre of balance, as well as pelvic floor exercises, restore the expectant mother’s well-being and inspire her to continue enjoying her baby.

The Bambino SPA at PLC Mega offers physiotherapy classes for pregnant women, either individually or in groups.

During the individual session, the exercise is accompanied by a physiotherapy consultation. Duration 45 min.

Prenatal massages

Prenatal massage helps mums-to-be feel better. Pregnant women often experience tension and anxiety related to hormonal changes, as well as insomnia and an inability to relax. Regular massage can help relieve the aches and pains of pregnancy by stimulating blood circulation, relaxing muscles, improvingsleep quality and reducing symptoms of stress and anxiety.

Pregnancy massage involves special positions on the side, a gentler massage technique that does not reach the deep muscles and bypasses more sensitive areas.

You can choose from full-body, back or shoulder girdle massages.
